Lets cut to the chase. Being a self-taught Cloud data engineer, I know the feeling when you have absolutely no idea about any of the jargon used in Cloud. That’s why I try to deliver presentations for Absolute Beginners in most cases (a few of them available here).

There are plenty of resources on “How to get started with Qwiklabs.” [here] This is not an article about it. This is more about “Why to get started with Qwiklabs

I have no academic background in Computer Science and obviously there was (maybe, “is”) a lot to catch up. So, what helped me get into a state of Cloud Nine when I embarked into this mysterious Cloud. Well, I can keep on thanking amazing community contributors, YouTube creators, Text Book writers, documentation specialists, Coursera, and the list keeps going on. What is that one resource that stands out? Drumroll please, for me it is Qwiklabs.

There are many ways one can learn a new topic. A few folks enjoy learning by doing and a few others like me enjoy learning by reading and then doing. I started my so-called thinking in Cloud with GCP and every Cloud I read about later, I try to draw parallels in GCP. While the great documentation, amazing and curated curriculum helped me get my basics sorted, Qwiklabs helped me reinforce the concepts I learned by letting me actually do those things, that too by holding hands, every step of the way when I need. And when I feel adventurous, I can “challenge” myself and enjoy a dash of Adrenaline doing things with no/minimal hands to lend support. The confidence that one gains by doing things in the exact same environment as in a real-world situation is priceless and if I have to coin a term for that feeling, I feel “Qwiklabby”.

When major Cloud providers like GCP provide great content and great platforms like Qwiklabs, we often take it for granted. I cannot imagine my journey into Cloud without Qwiklabs. Maybe you can anticipate delays, inconsistencies in service when you are literally flying in the Cloud in an airplane, but you need not worry about anything when you are flying in Qwiklabs!

If you have not gotten a chance to get that “Qwiklabby” feeling, stop waiting in the Lobby, quick, jump right over to qwiklabs. If you need a free boarding pass, don’t worry. You can signup for a month of trial. Not enough? Participate in Cloud Study Jams. Not enough? Participate in Speed Runs(Speed Runs, what? Maybe, its time you Google Qwiklabs Speed Run now). For free access a nice place to look for is this post by sathish vj Not enough? Contact Me, I would like to talk :) An honorary mention to Qwiklabs support. They are the best in their business.

Thank you Qwiklabs and Thank you Google Cloud for polishing the learning experience for us 🙏
